About us
Road fatalities in 2009 reduced by 12% in comparison to 2008. However, this still means that 2,222 people lost their lives on the UK's roads in 2009. In total, there were over 222,000 road casualties during the year, an overall reduction of 4% in comparison to 2008. Despite some impressive reductions in the number of people killed or injured, the challenge for road safety professionals remains.
Our aim is:
Facilitate the continued professional development of road safety practitioners in the UK to ensure that all road safety related schemes delivered in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are evidence-led, target-driven, examples of best practice and of the highest quality.
We achieve this by:
Providing and facilitating training and support opportunities for practitioners of road safety and sustainable travel at all levels through our support of the National Staff Training Group, our local area groups, regional training courses, debating forums and our flagship annual course.
