Accessibility
We have tried our very best to make this web site usable by as many people as possible. Some people with disabilities find using the web difficult and many sites do not accomodate those with visual or other disabilities. While we know that it is impossible to design a site that everyone can use, designing this site with accessibility in mind means that more people can access its content.
W3C WIA Accessibility Compliance
In designing the IRSO website, every attempt has been made to conform to the W3C Web Content Accessibilities Guidelines version 1.0 including all Priority 1, Priority 2 and most Priority 3 checkpoints as defined in the guidelines.
W3C Code Validation
This website is designed using XHTML 1.0 Strict, providing compatibility with many different Browsers, the code being validated using the W3C Validator. The site has also been tested on Mozilla Firefox 2.0 and 3.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0beta, Opera 9.5 and Safari 3.1.
Accessible features built into our website include, but are not limited to:
- Web pages are fully compliant with standard screen reader technology - with clear labelling and easily identified links
- Website is designed to enable the user to increase or decrease the font size without affecting the page layout and readability
- Most PDF's available to download from websites are accessibility checked so they can be read correctly using screen readers.
