Publishing guidelines for InRoads
The Journal is a window on what is happening in your profession and a way of developing networks with other Road Safety professionals. However, we need your contributions to make this truly reflect the excellent work being carried out around the country and beyond. If you are submitting an article please conform to the copy guidelines below.
- You should aim to produce an article of a maximum of 350 words. Shorter information pieces can also be submitted.
- More in-depth detailed articles (more than 50 words) can be submitted - in this case a 250-300 word summary would be required for InRoads and the detailed article would be published in the members' area of the website.
- Articles exceeding 350 words and NOT submitted with a summary will only appear on the website.
- Finish your article with your name and contact details.
- Articles should be in electronic format sent by e-mail or cd. Preferably typed in single space Arial 11. (It will be changed to this for editing purposes).
- Do not submit articles with double spaces after full stops. They should be in Word or RTF format.
- Articles which are too long will be edited to fit into the journal or returned to the sender for editing.
- E-mailed pictures and graphics must be a minimum of 300 dpi, preferable jpeg format.
- Relevant photos submitted with articles should be bright clear shots.
- Do not embed pictures in the word article itself as we cannot make use of them in this format.
- Photos and discs can only be returned if they are clearly labelled with a return address.
- Send your article to a member of the editorial team ONLY.
- The editorial team will make the final decision about articles to be included in each edition.
- Please name each picture with the article name followed by a number ie MarcOldfield_1.jpg
- Please include captions for any pictures sent with articles. These should name people in the picture, and/or where they are.
- Copy deadlines must be adhered to; any late articles will be held over for future editions.
