Membership Information
Associate Grade - awarded to applicants with no experience working within the area of road safety education, training and publicity, or accident investigation and prevention or sustainable travel.
Associate 1 - for applicants appointed to part-time posts; Member grade is available after five years' Associate membership.
Associate 2 - for applicants appointed to full-time posts; Member grade is available after four years' Associate membership.
Associate 3 - for applicants with two years' experience who hold a relevant degree or certificate in Road Safety Studies or have completed a National Staff Training Group (NSTG) Phase II course; Member grade is available after one year's Associate membership.
The transfer to Member grade is upon application and depends on a combination of experience and qualifications as outlined below.
Transfer to Member - if you are applying for a transfer to Member level please supply written evidence of your experience and qualifications and their relevance to your career in road safety. You will need to download and complete the membership transfer form . Transfer of Grade fee is £12.50.
Fellow - the highest grade of membership, Fellowships are awarded to members who, in the opinion of the Fellowship Committee, have made a significant contribution to the Institute or the profession.
Fellows may also be self nominated. Information can be obtained from the Chairman of the Fellowship Committee.
Direct Access to Full Member Grade
- Available to holders of a relevant degree
- Advanced Certificate of RoadSafety Studies
- BTEC Professional Development Diploma in Accident and Safety Management
- Road Safety N/SVQ level 3, 4 or non-relevant degreee plus NSTG Phase II
- You will need to provide a justification of the relevance of your degree in support of your application.
